Autumn Jazz in Bridgnorth

A selection of the best in jazz music.

We’ll hear about the Bridgnorth jazz festival which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and as well as the popular Jazz Trail on Saturday, they also have a Jazz Train, complete with mobile musicians, on the Severn Valley Railway. The festival also has artists such as Digby Fairweather and Roy Williams, Julian Stringle, Craig Milverton and Nick Millward plus many more throughout the weekend. Music in the jazz programme will include the Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. There’s also Hammond organ from Jimmy Smith with a big band and the Esmond Selwyn Hammond Organ Trio plus a look back to 1930 and a very young Casa Loma Orchestra and some memories of the Zenith Hot Stompers who disbanded earlier this year. There’s an orginal interpretation of a Cole Porter song from Canadian singer Elizabeth Shepherd and a joyful blues from Don Cherry.
