Should 16-year-olds be allowed to vote?

Call 08459 811111, email julia@bbc.co.uk or text 81333 (start your message with KENT).

Dara Farrell from Kent is the Vice Chair of the British Youth Council. He says reducing the voting age would be a great opportunity to engage young people in British democracy.

Sittingbourne and Sheppy MP Gordon Henderson says they are children that do not have enough life experience. Indeed, only one Kent MP, Maidstone's Helen Grant, would support a move to lower the voting age.

Which side do you sit on? Would you have liked the right to vote at 16? Were you frustrated that you could not get your voice heard?

Do you think 16-year-olds are too young, immature and inexperienced? Would giving 16-year-olds the vote make a mockery of our democracy? At what age did you feel educated enough to make a constructive opinion on which party to vote for?

We hear your views and opinions.
