Queen arrives in Hillsborough

Queen Elizabeth II arrives in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle, her official residence in Northern Ireland, on the first day of her Silver Jubilee visit to NI. Due to security concerns the Queen had to travel by helicopter. She was greeted by school children and inspected a guard of honour formed by the Ulster Defence Regiment (special reserves who supported the regular army in Northern Ireland). After the inspection the Queen hosted a garden party for several thousand guests, all of whom had been rigorously vetted.
