Uncertainty for staff at Manston as it is put up for sale

Matt Cole sits in alongside John with the latest news, travel, and weather for Kent.

There is a question mark over the future of more than a hundred staff at Manston airport this morning, after it was put up for sale by its owners.

The New Zealand based company, Infratil, is also selling it's other UK airport in Glasgow.

The news comes just three months after budget airline, Flybe, revealed it will be pulling out of Manston, at the end of this month (06:07, 07:07 and 08:07).

Removing graffiti, clearing undergrowth and painting community centres - all work done by criminals under the banner of community service here in Kent. 250,000 hours of so-called "payback" was done last year, worth the equivalent of £1.5m.

Kent Probation Service says it is working - with re-offending rates for the scheme less than half than for those who end up in jail. But Edward Boyd from the think tank, The Policy Exchange, says community service is not fair on the public (06:22, 07:22 and 08:21).

They have dominated the East Kent skyline for more than 50 years but this weekend Richborough's cooling towers are coming down.

The three towers and chimney stack at the former power station are being demolished to make way for a green energy plant (06:54 07:39 and 08:39).
