Stanley Jordan introduces his friends

Guitarist Stanley Jordan plays on his new album with some great musical friends.

We hear from guitarist Stanley Jordan about his new album and what it means to have so many musicians on one album with many differing styles. How do you choose the music and how do make sure they don’t get drowned out? All the answers are in the interview.

There’s a look back at some of the work of Joe Harriott and an example of him with pianist Dill Jones in 1954. Trudy Kerr and Ingrid James set themselves the task of singing a Don Cherry composition with words added by Sheila Jordan.

Joe Pass and Neils-Henning Orsted Pedersen were recorded in London in 1978. Their music has been re-issued now and it sounds very fresh even after 30-odd years.

Stacey Kent talked earlier this year about the joys of making a live album. It’s out now so we can hear a track from it.
