This week on Over To You, Rajan Datar turns his attention to tennis, on behalf of a listener who feels that there has been too much coverage of Wimbledon – and that the main British tennis tournament is not all that important anyway.

Rajan puts these points to Pam Poole, the Sport editor for the World Service, who is robust in defence of her department’s coverage – and of the importance of sport as a reflection of society.

Rajan also looks into the relationship between celebrities and the media – following criticism by Michael Jackson’s brother, in a World Service interview this week, that he and his family have been victims of negative media coverage in order to sell newspapers and attract large radio and TV audiences.
