Within the next five years, it's estimated that the nanotechnology industry will be worth more than 2.5 trillion US dollars worldwide. Nanomaterials - measured in tiny fractions of a millimetre - are now being used in a wide range of consumer products. But there are concerns about their safety, and there are now calls for greater regulation. Audrey Tinline looks at the latest developments.
