The Orchard Project

is dedicated to the creation, restoration and celebration of urban community orchards. We bring orchards into the heart of UK cities, particularly in areas of high deprivation where there is limited access to nature.

Community wellbeing

Community wellbeing
By connecting people with nature, orchards offer calming environments where people, like Franki, can find solace and a sense of community. 97% of our volunteers said having an orchard in their neighbourhood made it a better place to live.

Boosting biodiversity

Boosting biodiversity
Community orchards do more than just provide fresh fruit – they enhance urban biodiversity and contribute to climate resilience. With the right care, orchards can become havens for wildlife, teeming with birds, mammals, and invertebrates.

Preserving orchard skills

Preserving orchard skills
Sharing valuable orcharding skills with communities across the UK helps us to preserve traditional practices and pass this knowledge down to future generations. Last year we trained 1,988 people in orchard management to lead their local groups.
