From blockbuster movies to comedy gigs, Kathy Clugston presents the definitive guide to going out.
Kathy's guests this week are writer/ director Gina Donnelly and actor Emily Lamey from Brassneck Theatre Co whose Anthem For Dissatisfaction, revisiting teenage life in the 90s, is running at this year's Feile an Phobail. The latest in Tony Macaulay's series of autobiographies, All Growed Up, in which Tony leaves home and starts university, is coming to the Lyric Theatre, and Tony will join us to explain all. Singer Cara Dillon tells Kathy about Radio 2's 21st Century Folk initiative. This year’s theme is about people whose lives are intertwined with the sea. Five listeners have been paired with five folk singer-songwriters who will write original songs based on their lives and tales of the water. Cara has written a song with Sam Lakeman, inspired by the story of contributor Jeff Allen - a kayaker, yachtsman and former soldier who has dedicated himself to boat-building and kayaking. And writer Alice Malseed tells us about Three Pay Days, a new play by Kabosh Theatre Co which explores how years of austerity have impacted on a local family. Plus podcast picks from Karishma Kusurkar and the latest film releases reviewed by Helen O'Hara.
