Jess Gillam with... Matilda Lloyd

Trumpeter Matilda Lloyd joins Jess to talk about her life in music and swap some of their favourite tracks, from Bruckner and Coleridge-Taylor to Charlie Chaplin and Elly Wamala

Jess's guest this week is trumpeter Matilda Lloyd. Since winning the brass final of ±«Óătv Young Musician in 2014, Matilda has gone on to perform across the globe with orchestras such as Britten Sinfonia and the ±«Óătv Scottish Symphony Orchestra, she’s released albums to critical acclaim and is currently busy in the studio recording new material, she's also passionate about music education and the wellbeing of musicians and chats to Jess about her work in education as well as her trumpet heroes and unexpected passion for the penny whistle.

They settle in for a listening party of the music they love, including an epic Bruckner scherzo, joyous Irish folk by Kan, haunting new music by Aleksander Debicz and something from the father of Ugandan pop Elly Wamala.

Plus Jess plays some of the best music to take you into Saturday evening.
