Released in May 1984, Private Dancer saw Tina Turner emerge from the shadow of former husband Ike - both personally and professionally. It remains Tina's biggest-selling album, with over 12 million copies sopld worldwide.

Featuring a lengthy cast of writers and producers - including Mark Knopfler, Joe Sample, Rupert Hine and Heaven 17's Martyn Ware - the album was nonetheless recorded in just a matter of weeks. It would go on to win three Grammys among countless other awards and included Tina's first and only US No.1 single, What's Love Got To Do With It - the song that also sealed the deal internationally.

Within a year, Tina swapped the nostalgia circuit for packed stadiums and the Queen Of Rock 'N' Roll was here to stay.
