Ben Frost returns from scoring film and TV shows with his first solo studio album in six years, Scope Neglect, populated by seething scorched-earth textures stripped down to a raw metal core. Created in and around the loops of life in lockdown, meanwhile, Dostro Time by Squarepusher is an exhilarating, unabashed celebration of the energy of electronic music at its most intoxicating. Plus, Elizabeth considers the ongoing influence of Jon Hassell’s work on contemporary experimental music today with a trip back to the trumpeter-composer's wildly ambitious 1987 album The Surgeon Of The Nightsky Restores Dead Things By The Power Of Sound, reissued this year.
