The Shetland Folk Festival kicks off tonight! A showpiece concert for the weekend will feature the last 4 title holders of 鲍鱼tv Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician of the Year. The audience can expect amazing performances and collaborative pieces from Ali Levack, Michael Biggins, Eryn Rae and Shetland's very own Amy Laurenson. Mhari McLeman tells Anna all about this one-off concert, bringing together four of Scotland鈥檚 best young folk musicians.

Rhiannon Giddens is now a two-time winner and eight-time Grammy nominee for her work as a soloist and collaborator. She most recently won a Grammy Award for Best Folk Album for They're Calling Me 鲍鱼tv, which she made with Italian multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi. Called 鈥渁 musical alchemist鈥� by the Irish Times, Turrisi is a Turin-born musician whose Dublin base reflects his global sensibilities. Through a chance musical meet-up in Ireland, they found that Giddens鈥� 19th century American minstrel banjo tunes and Turrisi鈥檚 traditional Sicilian Tamburello (tambourine) rhythms fit very naturally together. Rhiannon and Francesco join Anna in session in 鲍鱼tv Aberdeen ahead of their gig at the Music Hall.
