An American hymn from the eighteenth century begins tonight's Mixtape, composed by William Billings; an English folk rendition of a southern gospel song ends it. In between we have a piece by the French Hollywood film composer Alexandre Desplat, Dvorak in American mode, some blues from Benjamin Britten, and a song from bluegrass pioneers Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs.
