The Assassination of Monica Lewinsky

January 1998. Despite denials, stories snowball about Monica and President Clinton. Linda is sure he is finished, but the media circus assaults all three of them – cruelly attacking her and Monica.

At his deposition in the Paula Jones case, President Clinton flatly denies her accusations, but doing the same for the insinuations about Monica will be risky if the prosecutors have any proof. Newsweek lacks confidence in Michael Isikoff’s story of an affair, but the failure to print it is fodder for the Drudge Report. Bill must talk to Hillary as coverage escalates.

The Watergate complex is again part of a political scandal, as Monica is holed up with her mother, Marcia. Besieged and ridiculed, Monica must agree a deal with Kenneth Starr’s team. Her lawyer, Bill Ginsberg, is confident – but his brashness could prove problematic.

Linda is also under pressure, pilloried and caricatured on TV and in the press. But she is confident Clinton will resign. With morbid fascination, Monica watches people from her past portray her as a sad fantasist. In the White House, Bill learns he must stand his ground - but will Hillary help?
