People are ordering turkeys for Christmas far earlier than usual. But will anyone who wants one really struggle to get a turkey this year?

MPs are concerned about the risks to consumers of unsafe products sold online. Public warnings about things like dangerous toys were once common, but since Trading Standards departments shrank after the financial crash, such warnings have become rare. We hear from Sam McCarthy, mother of 2-year old Rebecca, who almost died after swallowing toy magnets that were bought online. A third of products are now bought on the web, yet a gap in the law means that tech giants such as Amazon and eBay are not responsible for the safety of items sold by third parties. That's according to a report by the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee.

People are ordering turkeys for Christmas far earlier than usual. Small producers of fresh turkeys say they’ve seen a really big early surge in orders. It's been prompted by news of supply chain problems and labour shortages. We find out if the country is really headed for a turkey shortage this Christmas.

The interior design shop Habitat is re-launching its website after struggling for quite a few years. Average UK house prices rose by more than 13% in the year to June. That's terrible news if you're trying to buy your first home, but it leaves plenty of older people with a lot of equity in their property. There's been a sharp rise this year in the number of people taking some of that money out of their homes, often to help their adult children. We examine the economics of this and whether it's a sensible move for people living in valuable homes.
