18/3/21 The Psalms of Lament: A Meditation

A Meditation on the Psalms of Lament led by the Bishop of Dorking, Jo Bailey Wells.

When it comes to prayer in the midst of pandemic, prayer both that reaches to the depths and stretches to the heights, there’s nothing quite like the book of Psalms. It’s the oldest and best hymn book we have, the book of human words to God uttered in Ancient Israel that’s now become part of God’s Word to us. You might be surprised what’s found there – an amazing anthology of emotion and expression, from elation to agony, embracing wherever we are today and whatever might be going on, yet urging us to bring it all to God whatever the circumstances. Today's Daily Service, led by the Bishop of Dorking, Jo Bailey Wells,, focuses on the psalms of lament, the prayers which are cries to God in times of need.

Reading: Psalm 130
