Recent events take their toll on Alice and a decision is reached at Brookfield

David’s bleary eyed after a late night Mystery Plays rehearsal. He discloses to Ruth that Leonard only got a role after Jill agreed for the production to use Brookfield kitchen. Ruth’s not happy. David tells her that Leonard is not to know that how he got cast.

David’s still unsure about ±«Óãtv Farm’s offer to graze the Brookfield sheep. What’s in it for Brian? But then he gets a text from Vince Casey – there’s finally a date for re-opening the abattoir. Surely now it’s a yes to the sheep proposal, declares Ruth. Maybe, ponders David. There’d need to be a proper grazing licence agreement drawn up – but it does sound like their best option. David decides to go for it. In return Ruth suggests keeping a small acreage for arable, so they’d still be a mixed farm.

Jennifer visits Alice in hospital, offering support to her fragile daughter. Alice feels she’s let Martha down, and she can’t bond properly. She’s struggling to breast feed, and Martha can’t suck. She feels like Martha doesn’t like her. Jennifer is encouraging. Alice needs to give it time; she will eventually feel the love. Alice says she does love Martha, she just feels that her issues are all her fault. Jennifer assures her the early birth was just one of those things. Alice will feel better once Martha’s home; she just needs to be patient. Alone with wailing Martha Alice has another attempt at feeding her. Success! With Martha happily latched on, Alice tells her baby she loves her very much.
