All the action from the magical Auld Lammas fair on Antrim’s famous north coast, one of the country’s oldest fairs.

‘At the Oul’ Lammas Fair in Ballycastle-O’ feicfimid daoine ó gach cearn den tír ag ceann de na haontaí is sine dá bhfuil ann. Is cairde móra iad Donal Sweeney as Ard a’Rátha agus Tomás Póil as Inis Oírr agus beidh siad i gcomórtas lena chéile le fáil amach cé aige a bheas an chéad ‘díolachán.’ Cuid lárnach den Aonach is ea margadh na gcapall – beidh na crúdóirí Paul agus Joe Traynor i mbun oibre anseo. Déanann David Moore an sean-mhilseán an ‘Fear Buí‘, beidh muintir na n-oileán Mary agus Ciarán O’Driscoll ann agus beidh ceol againn ó Chomhaltas agus Clann Mhic Choinnigh.

This week we’re at the Auld Lammas Fair in Ballycastle-O! They’ve come from far and wide to peddle their wares at one of the oldest festivals in Ireland. Donal Sweeney with his knitwear from Ardara and Tomás Póil with his fudge from Inis Oírr battle it out to see who will clock up the most sales from the 100,000 strong crowd.

The horse-trading origins of the Lammas are in full view as farrier brothers Paul and Joe Traynor crank up the heat at their forge. David Moore has escaped from the kitchen to dole out his precious yellowman. There’s music too, with the McKinney family and Mary and Ciarán O’Driscoll, as this coastal town community enjoys all the fun of the fair.
