Sue Barker introduces highlights from the Australian Open in Melbourne on a day in which both women’s semi-finals and one of the men’s are fought out.

With ten different women winning the last 12 Grand Slams, there are plenty of contenders who are hoping to still be in with a chance of lifting the famous trophy – along with the winner’s cheque for a record £2.2m. They include two former world number ones who met in the semi-finals in Melbourne last year – Japan’s Naomi Osaka, who went on to win the title, and Czech Karolina Pliskova, who has reached at least the semi-finals in three different majors but who is still waiting to lift her first Grand Slam title.
