Nick Wallis meets sub-postmasters from the south still fighting to have their criminal records wiped clean after the Post Office’s £58m settlement to end their High Court battle.

Hundreds of sub-postmasters across England celebrated victory last month when the Post Office finally agreed a £58m settlement to end a High Court battle. The judge ruled that flaws in the Post Office's IT system could and did create unexplained shortfalls in branch accounts leading to the 550 sub-postmasters who brought the case being held responsible and accused of theft by the Post Office. Some were prosecuted and even jailed.

Nick Wallis – who first reported on their fight for justice nine years ago – reveals the struggle is still not over for some. Those prosecuted by the Post Office want their convictions for theft and false accounting overturned as miscarriages of justice and their reputations restored. And, with 2020 so far delivering a mild winter, Jon Cuthill looks back to the big freeze of 1963 which saw the south covered in snow for months on end.
