Scottish Music Awards, Super Power Agency and Saltire Literary Awards

Janice reflects on the Scottish Music Awards and the Saltire Literary Awards and hears from some of the nominees and winners.

Janice reflects on a weekend of competition in books and music with the Scottish Music Awards and the Saltire Literary Awards having taken place in Glasgow and Edinburgh over the weekend. She’ll hear from some of the nominees and winners who have defined our year in music and literature in 2019 including artists Tom Walker, Ged Grimes, Jim Kerr and Mike Heron and writers Kirstie Blair, Janette Ayachi, Melanie Reid and Ewan Morrison.

Janice speaks to a trio of the UK’s most celebrated female singer-songwriters - Julia Fordham, Beverley Craven and Judy Tzuke – who have resumed their Woman to Woman collaboration and are set to release a charity single this festive season.

And an innovative project from The Super Power Agency in Leith which has been helping schools across Edinburgh since 2016 with projects designed to boost reading and writing skills and encourage creativity with authors including Ian Rankin and Sara Sheridan signing up to be ‘agent’ pen pals to some of the capital’s most disadvantaged young people.

Plus our a brand new Single of the Week will be announced, this time it comes from an exciting, Glasgow based, multi-instrumentalist and singer song-writer who is on the cusp of releasing her debut album in 2020.
