Join Mark Stephen and Euan McIlwraith for life on the canal, a railway journey and a look at a modern highland estate.
In the first half of the programme Mark and Euan discover a slower pace of life. Euan travels along the Keith to Dufftown railway soaking in all the sights and sounds along the route. And Mark meets author and canal dweller, Jonathan Mosse. Jonathan fell in love with canals by accident and then accidentally ended up living on them. He tells Mark about life on the water and the community spirit that accompanies it.
After 7 o’clock Mark and Euan visit Garrogie Estate in the highlands. The 30,000 acre estate has been in the Connell family since the 1980s. Mark and Euan meet the current laird, Charlie, and hear about how things have changed in the past 40 years.
They meet those who live and work on Garrogie and find out what’s involved in running a modern shooting estate. As public feelings seem to be shifting, are Charlie and his employees aware about anti-estate sentiment and how do they see the future?
