This week, folk rock pioneer Maddy Prior looks back at 50 years of Steeleye Span.

The band, formed by Ashley Hutchings after he left Fairport Convention, is releasing an all-new album appropriately titled 'EST'd 1969'.

Steeleye Span became a household name in the 1970s, exposing a huge audience to traditional music through their many appearances on TV and radio.

Past members include Tim Hart, Martin Carthy, Peter Knight, Rick Kemp, Gay & Terry Woods, Dave Mattacks, Pete Zorn and John Kirkpatrick. Lancashire-born Maddy Prior MBE has been the unmistakable frontwoman for most of the band's remarkable history.
