Vision Care for ±«Óătvless People

Vision Care for ±«Óătvless People brings its eye care services to homeless and other vulnerable people. Our dedicated volunteers, optometrists, dispensing opticians and assistants, provide sight tests & glasses free of charge from 9 city centre clinics across England.

What our patients say

What our patients say

Our clients say things like this to us: “Everyone should be able to see properly, shouldn’t they? In this day and age? It’s a nightmare when you’re squinting, trying to work things out all the time. I can hardly wait to see my daughter.  She’s 12 and I haven’t seen her face clearly for five years.”

Why do they volunteer? Because they see tears of joy when a homeless woman who has not had a pair of glasses for years now finds the world has become a safer place. Because they witness the relief of a homeless man looking for work, who will finally be able to read the test questions at his job interview that day.

When people are experiencing homelessness they need glasses to look for work, find accommodation or simply to keep themselves safe. Sadly, very few are able to get sight tests, glasses or eye care elsewhere, so it’s a great relief for them to be given spectacles at one of our clinics.
