The local government standards commissioner says the deputy mayor Derek Hussey has been referred for investigation over his three drink-driving convictions.

A government watchdog says Derry and Strabane's deputy mayor Derek Hussey is to be investigated over his three drink-driving convictions. It follows complaints by two local families whose loved ones were killed by drink-drivers. Last year, the UUP councillor refused to resign from the role - but said that he had regretted his actions which were dealt with by the courts. In a statement, a spokesperson for the local government Standards Commissioner said there would be no further statement until the conclusion of the investigation, and only then if the case is referred for adjudication.
