Al Murray, aka pub landlord, on his new single with Fat Cops and we also hear about the dance adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Story of the Mother.

On Monday’s Afternoon Show, we’ll be hearing about the musical stage adaption of Bill Forsyth’s, classic and much loved film from 1983, Local Hero. Janice will be talking to David Greig who adapted it with Bill Forsyth and also hearing from Mark Knopfler who as well as writing the score for the film has composed the music and lyrics for the musical.

The 2018 BP Portrait Award exhibition opens at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery on 15 December and Janice will be chatting to this year’s winner Miriam Escofet about her stunning work, An Angel at my Table which features her elderly mother sat at her kitchen table. National Galleries of Scotland staff member Laura Nardo will also be displayed as part of this year’s BP Portrait Award exhibition and she will be joining Miriam to tell us about her painting, titled LTR Team A, which features her fellow Security and Visitor Services colleague Vittorio Milazzo.

We also hear about the dance adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Story of the Mother, which premieres in Edinburgh this month and stars internationally acclaimed principle ballerina, Natalia Osipova. Janice will be chatting to Director and choreographer Arthur Pita and multi-award winning Principal Jonathan Goddard.

Janice’s Single of the Week is from Fat Cops and called Hands Up! Get Down! Described as “a hazy summer groove for pants-swingers of all ages” it features Al Murray (AKA Pub Landlord) on drums, so Janice will be asking Al about the new single and his drumming and gigging with the band!
