My Rock God with Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins

Johnnie's back with the Radio 2 Rock Show! Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins picks his Rock God and we hit B in the A-Z of Rock.

Johnnie Walker returns with week 2 of the Radio 2 Rock Show. This week, we hear from the drummer of one of Rock's biggest modern-day bands - Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters. Plus, we'll play the greatest rock from across the decades to choice new releases.

Taylor joined Dave Grohl and the Foo's back in 1997. Before that, he'd been drumming for the likes of Alanis Morissette, and in his own band Sylvia.

Taylor was born in 1972 and grew up in California. He debuted on the Foo Fighters tour for their second album, 'The Color and the Shape' but it is fact frontman Dave Grohl drumming on that album not Taylor. He joined after the record had already been made.

Foo Fighters are one of the most successful modern-day rock acts, founded in 1994 by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. They've won four Grammy Awards for 'Best Rock Album' and have sold over 12 million records in the USA alone. They released their ninth studio album, 'Concrete and Gold' last winter and are currently out on tour in support of the record.

As well as drumming for Foo Fighters, Taylor is also at home in front of the mic taking lead vocals too. His first singing job for the Foo's was on their cover of Pink Floyd's 'Have a Cigar' and he usually sings at least one lead track when the band play live too. On their current album, 'Concrete and Gold, Taylor sings the track 'Sunday Rain'.

Taylor has his own band too - Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders.

Taylor is a massive fan of Queen and Roger Taylor in particular. But will he pick Roger as his 'Rock God'? Listen to the show to find out!

Plus, join Johnnie for his ultimate A-Z of Rock; an indispensable, bitesize guide to the genre in a handy alphabetical order and we'll delve into the archives to bring you a flavour of them too. This week we arrive at 'B'. B for...Bonham? Bruce? Bowie? So many incredible artists and bands begin with 'B' - but just who or what will Johnnie pick? Make sure you're listening to find out which B makes it into our ultimate A-Z of Rock...
