I Have A Dream

50 years ago, America and the world were coming to terms with the murder of civil rights leader Martin Luther King. Huey marks the anniversary by playing tracks inspired by him.

Huey marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, playing tracks written about him, and tracks that were inspired by him.

Huey will tell the story of the days following the assassination, when a James Brown concert helped prevent riots in the city of Boston, and Muddy Waters went to play at the temporary shanty town, that had sprung up at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

You'll hear the story of how Otis Spann performed a newly written tribute to Dr King, at a storefront church in Chicago, as buildings were burning all around.

And there will be music from Baby Huey, Quincy Jones, Run DMC, Gil Scott-Heron, Nina Simone and Public Enemy.
