Lily discovers that Pip has a date. Pip firmly corrects her - she and Alfie are just going for a drink. She considers cancelling - it's too soon after Toby. But Lily isn't satisfied with her excuses. Pip deserves a night out. When Pip returns early to Lower Loxley Lily assumes it went badly, but Pip's upbeat. She concedes that Alfie is rather attractive. Excited Lily urges her to arrange another meeting.

Lilian offers to drive Justin to the Police station to be interviewed about Matt's accident. But Justin prefers to go alone. It's too late for Lilian to start supporting him now. Justin returns home to the Dower House in a foul mood. The police seem to believe that he had a motive for attempting to murder Matt - the motive being Lilian. Lilian denies that she and Matt had an affair, but Justin no longer trusts her word. Hurt, Lilian offers to move out for a few days, and Justin agrees it would be best.
