About Pancreatic Cancer UK

Around 9,000 people die from pancreatic cancer in the UK every year, the majority of them within two to six months of diagnosis. Pancreatic Cancer UK is taking on the disease by funding innovative research to find the breakthroughs that will change how we understand, diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer is tough

Pancreatic cancer is tough

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of the 21 most common cancers and yet receives just 1.4% of the UK’s total cancer research spend per year. In the 21 years since Alison’s mum died, very little progress has been made in improving the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer, compared with other cancers.

Changing the odds

Changing the odds

At present only 5% of people with pancreatic cancer survive for 5 years or more after diagnosis. By funding researchers like Walid and Domenico, we hope to make the breakthroughs that will improve these bleak odds and change survival outcomes that have remained stubbornly low for over 40 years.

Progress through research

Progress through research

Donations allow us to fund researchers like Joy, who is searching for clues in the blood that could be used to create a simple blood test that you could have at your GP to detect the disease much earlier. Crucially, this could give more people the chance of having surgery, which is the only treatment which can save lives.

Investing for the future

Investing for the future

We have the opportunity to change the future of pancreatic cancer now, by investing in pioneering research to transform diagnosis and treatment, and save lives. Help us take on this tough disease and change the odds, so there’ll be more survivors, like those in our survivors group (pictured) and a brighter future for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.
