Bruce MacGregor presents a live set from Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill recorded at the Orkney Folk Festival.

Martin Hayes is originally from County Clare in Ireland where he grew up in a strong musical tradition. He left there for America in the eighties and forged his way as a fiddler in Chicago to begin with. That's where he met guitarist Dennis Cahill and since then they have played together all over the world. A couple of weeks ago, they visited the Orkney Folk Festival for the very first time and we spoke to them about their unique approach to traditional Irish tunes, and their involvement with the band The Gloaming. Plus we hear their live set recorded at the opening concert of the festival.
