Government plans to extend free childcare for parents with three to four-year-olds from 15 to 30 hours a week in England will only have a small effect on parents’ working patterns, according to new research from the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the Universities of Essex and Warwick. British Muslims have a "deeply worrying" belief in conspiracy theories and almost half would not go to the police if they knew someone with links to Islamic State (IS), a report by the think tank Policy Exchange has found. Europe's law enforcement agency Europol has warned that with the so-called Islamic State facing defeat in the Middle East there is likely to be an increased flow of foreign fighters trying to return home to Europe, leading to further terrorist attacks in EU countries. Forty years ago, a group of workers – led by Asian women - went on strike at the Grunwick Film Processing Laboratory in North London to protest at their treatment and working conditions. The strike proved to be a key moment in the British Labour movement, shaping attitudes to immigrant workers at a highly sensitive time in race relations. Sujata Aurora is chair of the Grunwick 40 group and and Shiv Desai is son of Jayaben Desai who led the strike.
