Lucy Kellaway is best known for her work with the Financial Times, but after 31 years she is swapping her career in journalism for one as a classroom teacher. She has co-found the educational charity ‘Now Teach’ which aims to get people who have had long careers in the city or management to consider swapping that for teaching.

The former pensions minister, Baroness Ros Altmann, has told the ±«Óătv she lobbied in government for more focus on social care. She says now there is too much passing the buck between government departments and that social care ought to be the responsibility of an individual minister.

A British-Iranian woman, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, is currently jailed in Tehran. Her husband, Richard Ratcliffe, says he suspects Iran is using his wife as a way of extracting an unpaid debt from the British government.

The Defence Committee has warned that the number of Royal Navy warships is woefully low. In a new report published this morning the committee says the Ministry of Defence seems to have no explanation for how the vessels will be replaced. Dr Julian Lewis is chairman of the Defence Select Committee. Rear Admiral Chris Parry is a former Royal Navy officer.

At least 120 people are said to have been killed and at least 150 more injured after a train derailed near the city of Kanpur in northern India in the country’s worst train crash since 2010. The ±«Óătv’s correspondent Zubair Ahmed reports.

In a letter to the Times today, the Rail Delivery Group says that Britain's railway is at a "crucial turning point" and must harness the latest technology and smarter ways of working to further improve services. Donald Trump is not happy with his portrayal on America's leading late night satire programme Saturday Night Live. This weekend he took to social media to call the NBC show “one-sided” and “biased.” Jan Ravens is an impressionist known for her voices on Spitting Image and Dead Ringers, and Lord Kenneth Baker is the former education minister portrayed on Spitting Image.
