Rag 'n' Bone Man in session, plus Dame Beryl Bainbridge's biographer

Janice Forsyth has Rag 'n' Bone Man in session, plus she talks to Brendan King about his biography of Dame Beryl Bainbridge.

As the first full-length biography of Dame Beryl Bainbridge is published, Janice speaks to its author Brendan King, who worked with Beryl for 23 years and whom she herself used to call her 'biographer in waiting'.

A centuries-old fragment of plain song has been used to inspire the project Echoes and Traces, where modern day composers have used it as inspiration for their own pieces of music. Performed by Capella Nova the works form the programme of a concert that will tour some of Scotland's most stunning historic buildings, like Dunfermline Abbey, Stirling Castle and St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall, Orkney. Artistic director of the project Ailie Robertson joins Janice.

Author Helen Sedgwick on her debut novel The Comet Seekers.

And: Mungo Park was an 18th-century Scottish explorer, who set off to discover the source of the River Niger and the fabled city of Timbuktu in West Africa on behalf of business interests in Britain. Actor Matthew Zajac joins Janice to talk about touring his play about Park, which is told in the style of the film The Raiders of the Lost Ark.
