Nicola Meighan sits in with Star Wars music, a Christmas TV preview and live music from Emma Pollock

Nicola Meighan sits in for Janice Forsyth and focuses on the music of the Star Wars films, plus Paul Whitelaw previews Christmas TV, and there is live music from Emma Pollock.

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra will be delighting families in Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh this weekend with their annual Christmas Concert. One highlight will be the orchestra performing Howard Blake's iconic soundtrack for Raymond Briggs' The Snowman synchronised with the screening of the animated film, with vocal soloists for the famous ballad Walking in the Air drawn from the RSNO's own Junior Chorus. Actress Georgie Glen, who will be the concert's Narrator, and conductor Christopher Bell join Janice.

Ahead of the cinematic release of the latest Star Wars film this week, The Force Awakens, we look at the iconic music used in the franchise and how it taps into our emotions to aid in the telling of the story.

TV guides at the ready: television treats this Christmas will be hand-picked for us by TV critic Paul Whitelaw.

We hear another of our festive radio Little Dramas, written by new writers from the Highlands and Islands: Tears in the Snow by Sophia Heckmann.

Singer- songwriter Emma Pollock and Neu! Reekie! Organisers Kevin Williamson and Michael Pederson talk about their Xmas Extravaganza tomorrow night, which will mark five years since the most exciting poets, musicians, bands, film-makers and conceptual artists started coming together to put on cultural happenings under the Neu! Reekie! banner. We'll also have a live performance from Emma.
