Brian Farley is in his seventies, he talks about retirement, caring for his wife Valerie who had Multiple Sclerosis and the experience of becoming a widower; OCD in children, with Professor Uta Frith and Dr. Bruce Clark Clinical Director of the Child and Mental Health Service at the South London Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust; historian Katherine Connelly takes Louise Adamson on the first of her series of walking tours to discover the sites associated with the history of the women of the East End of London; women are familiar with their monthly hormonal cycles but what do we know about men's Testosterone cycles? Dr. Leighton Seal a consultant endocrinologist from St George's Hospital London explains.

When is it okay to leave your child at home alone?

If you’re a parent, the end of the school holidays and the juggle with work commitments is in sight. And as children get older, it’s easier to leave them on their own. But how old is old enough to be left home alone, especially if younger brothers or sisters are involved? The law is not necessarily a help – it doesn’t state what age you can leave a child on their own, but it is an offence to leave a child alone if it puts them at risk. The last in our series of interviews in which Suzi Godson the Times relationship columnist speaks to men from their twenties to their eighties about family, fatherhood and relationships.Ìý Today Brian Farley who is 72 years and a retired electronics engineer. He met his wife ValerieÌý while youth hostelling in the Isle of Man and in their first year of marriage she ÌýwasÌý diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the same time that she discovered that she was pregnant. Brian describes their marriage of nearly 45 years andÌý his experience of being a carer and now a widower. ÌýÌý

Tonight, ±«Óãtv documentary series is looking at Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Most of us think that OCD is just over fussy tidying but it's actually much more serious. The intrusive thoughts that often lead to compulsive rituals can be completely debilitating resulting in many suffers not being able to attend school or work. Professor Uta Frith presents the programme and joins Jenni to talk about why she wanted to take on the project and Dr Bruce Clark discusses the presentation of the condition in children and the treatment on offer. Men’s Testosterone Cycle

Women are familiar with theirÌý monthly hormonal cycles, but what do we know about men’s hormonal cycles? ÌýForÌýexample, men have a bi-annual testosterone cycle which for those in the northern hemisphere peaks around February and October and theyÌýtend to gain weight during the times of low testosterone levels.ÌýDr. Leighton Seal joins Jenni to explain the male testosterone cycle.Ìý

East End Women’s History

Over the last few weeks there’s been considerable controversy over a new museum in the East End.Ìý Many people thought it was going to be about the history of women in that part of London, but in fact it is devoted to the story of Jack the Ripper and his victims.Ìý Katherine Connelly is a historian and biographer of Sylvia Pankhurst and she’s been involved in protests against the new museum.Ìý She’s agreed to take us on her own personal tour to highlight some of the East End women’s history which she feels should have been included in the museum.Ìý She met up with Louise Adamson on the busy road outside Liverpool Street Station for the first stop on their journey.
