Wild Cattle

The wild cattle of Chillingham. Untouched for hundreds of years, they remain one of the only examples of undomesticated cattle in Britain.

Ruth Sanderson goes on safari in Northumberland to visit the wild cattle of Chillingham. The estate manager Chris Leyland explains the eccentricities of these ancient animals, which have been untouched for hundreds of years. Meanwhile, the new warden of the cattle, Ellie Crossley, explains why she swapped Dorset for Northumberland.
