Thomas Sondergard (conductor)
Susan Gritton (soprano)
Jennifer Johnston (mezzo-soprano)

Thomas Søndergård closes the orchestra's St David's Hall season with Mahler's 'Resurrection' Symphony, summoning the full force of the orchestra and chorus to conjure the afterlife through music.
It's paired with B Tommy Andersson's Satyricon, a piece inspired by the tales of three young men in Ancient Rome. Written by the Latin author Petronius, they chronicle the amusing and sometimes risqué adventures of the lead character Encolpius. The rhythmic and extroverted music paints a picture of the scene, ending with, in the composer's words, "a grotesque dance, wild and noisy".
