Naomi Klein on climate change, Diana Henry cooks chicken and former Woman's Hour editor Sandra Chalmers is remembered, plus supporting HIV-positive Kenyan women. With Jenni Murray.

Reporter Angela Robson visits the Kenyan Community Engagement Initiative Network, a project funded by Comic Relief. It helps HIV positive women to support themselves through sustainable farming.

Naomi Klein, This Changes Everything

Climate change could become a galvanising force for humanity says Naomi Klein, in her latest book This Changes Everything. The award winning journalist, activist, and author explains to Jenni why she sees climate change as a battle between capitalism and the planet, with capitalism currently winning, and her fear that her two year old son would never see a moose.

Food Writer Diana Henry

Award winning food writer Diana Henry is back in the Woman’s Hour Studio rustling up a tangy Turkish inspired fresh and spicy salsa to be served with the subject of her new book: chicken. ‘A Bird in the Hand’ is Henry’s 9th cook book and celebrates the meat, with recipes from around the world, and meals ranging from comfort food to celebratory feasts.

Mother in the Mother

is a storytelling project in Bristol exploring the theme of maternal lineage and the change that occurs in the relationship between Mother and daughter, when the daughter becomes a Mother herself.  Organizer Pippa Robinson worked with just under a 100 mothers over 3 years, running various workshops and collecting personal stories. Reporter Milly Chowles went to Bristol to hear the stories of women who took part ahead of the Mother's Day exhibition at Knowle West Media Centre which marks the end of the project.

Comic Relief project in Kenya

To date, Comic Relief has raised over £960 million and since the last Red Nose Day alone, the money raised has helped over 12 million people living unimaginably tough lives in the poorest communities all over the world. One of the projects Comic Relief funds is the Kenyan Community Engagement Initiative Network.  It helps HIV positive women and orphaned children support themselves through better nutrition and more sustainable farming. Reporter Angela Robson went to meet a small group of women, called Toumani, who live on the edge of the Kakamega forest in the west of Kenya and are taking part in the project.  Red Nose Day is on Friday 13th March. Sue MacGregor plays tribute to Sandra Chalmers

Sandra Chalmers, former editor of Woman’s Hour has died, aged 74.  Sandra took on the role in 1983 and was the first mother of young children to edit the programme, using a plastic shopping bag instead of a briefcase to carry her office paperwork.  Sue MacGregor, who presented the programme under Sandra Chalmers’ leadership, joins Jenni to talk about her achievements.
