Live from the Barbican Hall
Presented by Martin Handley

The ±«Óãtv Symphony Orchestra in Strauss and Respighi. The ±«Óãtv Singers join for the UK premiere of The Annunciation - Brett Dean's depiction of the journey of the Three Kings. Josep Pons conducts.

Brett Dean is the ±«Óãtv Symphony Orchestra's new Artist in Association. The Annunciation - a commission to celebrate the 800th Birthday of Bach's own Thomanerchor (St Thomas' Choir) of Leipzig in 2012 - is a Christmas work which uses the story of the Three Kings as both vehicle and metaphor for a journey from darkness into light.

Respighi's intimate evocation of Botticelli's art includes 'The Adoration of the Magi'. Plus Richard Strauss's effervescent take on MoliÃre's satire 'Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme'.
