For over 30 years, Brainwave has been helping children with a wide range of physical and neurological conditions, including cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome and autism; aiming to improve their mobility, communication skills and learning potential. At Brainwave, a child’s needs are assessed at one of its three UK therapy centres or through its outreach work, and a programme of physical and educational exercises is created and taught to the family to carry out at home. The programme is then monitored by its qualified staff and adjusted over time as necessary. Currently Brainwave helps more than 600 children reach milestones which were never considered achievable.

In one of our therapy rooms, Phoebe is guided by a physiotherapist using a ‘peanut’ ball used to help build her core strength and balance, helping her to achieve more independence.

Achieving goals is always rewarded with a certificate and here, Liam is delighted at being able to stand up with the help of one of our physiotherapy team.
