On this week's show:

More great music from our top choirs and ensembles in a celebration of all things sung and all things choral.

John Anderson goes behind the scenes to meet the people and the singers who give Northern Ireland its great choral tradition and world-wide reputation.

For such a small country Northern Ireland has an amazingly rich culture in choral music.

John features...

Belfast Community Gospel Choir

Belfast Community Gospel Choir

Three years ago Sing Out was in the Spires in Belfast to enjoy the inaugural concert of this choir.  At that time no one really knew what to expect, least of all the members.

But the evening was a resounding success and planted the seeds for what has since become one of Northern Ireland’s most popular ensembles.  Led by Marie Lacey, they recently packed the Waterfront Hall in Belfast for a highly entertaining and enthusiastically received concert, that showed how far the choir has travelled in three short years.  John was at the Waterfront to speak to Marie just before the choir went on stage.

(Music includes Feel The Joy and Something Inside so Strong)

Ballyclare Male Choir

Ballyclare Male Choir

The nucleus of this popular choir was originally soldiers returning from the front after World War I, and by 1933 it had officially become the choir that we know today and who, this year,
celebrate their 80th anniversary.  We’ll hear some fine examples of their vast repertoire as John talks to Paul Briggs, their new conductor, and meets some of the members.

(Pieces include The Auld Lammas Fair, Gwahoddiad, Bring Back the Beguine and Stout Hearted Men)
