Kat is intrigued when Alfie asks to talk to her, and Bianca immediately suspects that Alfie is still in love with her. However, Alfie's announcement is not what Kat was expecting.

Roxy presses Alfie to tell Kat he’s divorcing her. Jean’s upset by the news. When Alfie’s keen to talk to Kat later, Bianca’s convinced he’s missing her. Roxy lets slip to Michael about the divorce. Encouraged by Bianca, Kat allows herself to hope while Alfie nervously prepares a speech. Later at the Vic, Alfie struggles to break the news, professing he loves Kat but must move on. Kat realises he wants a divorce and pleads for a last chance but Alfie’s resolute – he can never trust her again.. Realising Roxy, Jean and Michael all knew before her, Kat lashes out, wildly shouting she’s better off without a pathetic man like Alfie. Angry, Alfie insists Kat’s made things easier – now he’s sure he doesn’t love her anymore.

Determined not to burden Denise and Kim, Patrick announces he’s moving in with Anthony in Glasgow. The girls stubbornly hide their hurt until Dot intervenes. The girls insist he’s like a dad to them, Patrick decides to stay.
