Annoyed at the way things have turned out, Max goes looking for answers - but he gets more than he bargained for. Masood struggles with Zainab's demands and comes to a decision.

Attempting to avoid Ayesha, Masood busies himself installing Zainab’s water feature. Zainab demands it be complete by the time the imam arrives to discuss their wedding. Ayesha tells Masood she’s leaving and asks if he’s happy with Zainab. He ponders: yes, but why should he justify his relationship to her? Zainab’s water-feature-nags add to Masood’s relationship concerns. He asks AJ if he thinks his family is a joke, but AJ’s supportive: no, they’re strong. Masood’s qualms are strengthened, however, when Ayesha suggests he was justifying his relationship to himself earlier, not her. Masood overhears Zainab discussing their past relationship problems with the imam, and their hopes for a long, happy future. Panicked, Masood makes a quick exit.

Max too has relationship problems: Kirsty returned, wrecked his life, then left. He tells Jack she returned the wedding ring; he thinks she might be back with her ex. Jack asks why he cares. Max leaves to find her. She’s with her ex, bruised and scared. Max gets into a fight but is badly beaten up. He leaves with Kirsty, who has nowhere to go, claiming she only went there to collect her things. She says she’s signed the divorce papers; Max reveals he hasn’t sent them off. They kiss.

Tiffany roams around looking for straight-talking Walford residents to rate her singing. Michael, Zainab and Ian are all uninterested, so she sings to AJ. His verdict: he hates it. She’s delighted. He’s exactly the wrong audience meaning she must be good!

Finding Michael’s house a mess once more, Alice hides Tyler’s shoes until he’s tidied. Tyler sees Michael and Alice exchange flowers and wine. He tells Joey (who previously warned Michael about his relationship with Alice), knowing it’ll wind him up. Later, Tyler proposes to Whitney. Things could be looking up…

Denise accepts Ian’s lunch offer.
