The competition reaches its climax as the winners of the three heats take on their final challenges before Mary and Paul must decide who is the first ever Great Sport Relief Bake Off champion 2012.

The standard is high and the competition is fierce.

As always, starting with the signature bake, our finalists must impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with a trio of original and perfectly baked biscuits and they don't disappoint.

Next the technical bake and a huge challenge as the bakers use rough puff pastry for the first time in the competition. Paul's expectations are high as he asks them to follow his recipe and produce a batch of six sausage rolls; when a near-perfect batch by all is delivered to the judging table, the competition starts to look tight.

Finally, the Sport Relief bakers face their most technically demanding challenge yet - a showstopping, covered tiered occasion cake.

Their offerings include a three-tiered chocolate orange cake decorated with a handmade icing tea set, a tiered lemon wedding cake decorated with sugarpaste icing and miniature handmade iced daisies, that is described by the judges as 'beautifully professional', and a romantic heart-shaped red velvet sponge tiered cake that has a 'very good bake'.

Only one can be crowned The Great Sport Relief Bake Off champion 2012.
