A mournful Howard unburdens his troubles to Truly and Clegg - Pearl has no sympathy for him when she finds him homeless behind the wheely bin. Alvin and Ent stop to pick up the bushy figure that is Hobbo.

Toby makes a desperate attempt to win back his ex-wife Monica, but is confronted by a vicious dog.

Hobbo tells Pearl that Howard is out all alone on the bleak hills. The men pitch him a tent but Howard's not so keen on staying out alone in the wilderness. Hobbo tells him that he just needs to convince Pearl that he's living out in the wilds.

Hobbo and his 'team' turn Howard into a tramp in order to convince Pearl how rough he's been living so that she'll take him back.

Marina tells Miss Davenport that they both need a makeover. Stella doesn't recognise the new dressed down Marina but then Howard waves to her as the men pass in Ent's truck, and Marina thinks she has attracted a tramp.

Glenda takes pity on the tramp and her and Barry take him to the cafe for a hearty meal. Marina arrives and Hobbo, Alvin and Ent warn her to stay away from the mysterious tramp.

The men return to the wilderness with Howard to show Pearl how much he's roughing it, but Marina arrives at the same time so Hobbo and Howard bundle her into the tent.

Pearl, with Alvin and Ent, see the figure of the 'tramp' lying near the fire in the distance and wonder if he is dead but he starts to move uneasily - he's laid on an ants nest and suddenly jumps to life, along with Marina and Hobbo.

Pearl sees everything and is not impressed, so Howard is back to square one.
