Leila Josefowicz, John Novacek

Louise Fryer presents Leila Josefowicz (violin) and John Novacek (piano). Brahms: Scherzo (F-A-E Sonata in C minor, Wo0 2). Shostakovich: Violin Sonata, Op 134.

Louise Fryer presents highlights from the 2009 EBU Schwetzingen Festival in Germany.

Violinist Leila Josefowicz plays a varied programme, including a work from a sonata written by committee - Brahms collaborated with Schumann and Dietrich on a sonata, although this is the movement that is the most frequently played. Shostakovich's masterly Violin Sonata is followed by a piece by Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tuur and a relatively little-known work by Schubert.
