Lucas faces the wrath of Denise, and even a surprise proposal is not enough to win her over. Meanwhile, Jean sinks further into depression in spite of Stacey's best efforts.

As Lucas and Jordan leave the B&B for church Denise tries to control her nerves by tidying up the Trueman house in anticipation of Lucas’ visit later. When Lucas arrives for lunch Denise can’t resist making digs about his recent absence. Lucas reminds Denise they are meant to be discussing their future. Over lunch Denise and Lucas argue about Lucas’ religion but they both admit they do love each other. Chelsea interrupts and can’t hide her hurt over Lucas’s disappearance too. Lucas asks Denise to marry him. Denise refuses using Lucas’ religion as the reason and instead asks Lucas to move in with her – she then tries to seduce him. Lucas tells her sex before marriage is a sin. He leaves and Denise reveals to Chelsea he’s asked her to marry him. Denise waits anxiously for Lucas. Lucas returns and asks Denise to marry him again. Denise tells Chelsea and Libby Lucas is moving to Leeds and leaves tomorrow.

Jean lies catatonic on the sofa at the Slaters. Stacey arrives and wishes Jean happy birthday. Jean doesn’t even register Stacey but Stacey carries on and un-wraps Jean’s card and present. Stacey has included Sean’s name on the card and tells Jean she knows Sean is thinking of her today. Stacey and Charlie spend the day trying to get through to Jean but Jean just stares vacantly ahead. Stacey bakes Jean a cake and Charlie tells Jean to make a wish before she blows out her candle. Jean wishes she’d never had kids and that she was dead. Stacey rushes out upset. Lucas finds Stacey crying in the gardens and offers her one of his church cards. She’s grateful but leaves the card on the bench and walks home.

Danielle ends up homeless when Stacey refuses to accept her apology.
