Prom 71: Turnage, Mahler - Christmas repeat

Another chance to hear a Prom from last summer featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Bernard Haitink in Mark-Anthony Turnage's Chicago Remains and Mahler's Symphony No 6.

Petroc Trelawny presents a concert given by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under its principal conductor Bernard Haitink as part of the ±«Óãtv Proms 2008 season.

Famous for his interpretations of Mahler, Haitink conducts the composer's massive Sixth Symphony, preceded by a recent piece by Mark-Anthony Turnage. Turnage takes as his inspiration not only the city's unique orchestra, but also the work of Chicago poet Carl Sandburg.
